Eagle Scout Project

The STARS Scholarship Program was created to assist students, who are parents or custodial grandparents, with college expenses that fall outside of most financial aid packages.  The program is designed for Pottawattamie County residents that are low-income, full-time students pursuing a professional license or certificate, or an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree at an accredited school, college or university.  Many STARS scholars attend area schools (Iowa Western, Metro, UNO, Bellevue, Buena Vista, College of St. Mary’s, EQ School of Hair Design, etc.) as well as online schools.  These scholars are not only supported financially through the $2000 scholarship award, but also get much support from the other scholars in the program.  Family activities, informational seminars, academic awards and more help keep scholars and their families energized and focused on learning.

Wheels For Wishes is a car donation program benefiting Make-A-Wish Iowa. We are proud to offer a free and easy way to recycle or donate unwanted cars, trucks, motorcycles, SUVs, RVs, or even boats, by turning them into a wish for a local child. We pick-up or tow away cars free of charge, anywhere in Iowa, whether they run or not. Vehicles are either recycled or auctioned off and 100% of the net proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Iowa. Since we are a tax-exempt charity under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code, you also receive the maximum possible tax deduction for your charity vehicle donation. To donate, you can give us a call at 1-855-369-9474 or fill out our easy online vehicle donation form. Next, we will contact you within 24 hours to schedule your vehicle pick-up, which is completely free of charge. Lastly, we will mail out your tax deductible receipt, which you can save and deduct from your taxes at the end of the year.

WCCA Early Head Start Program

This program provides free weekly home visiting services to low-income families with children from prenatal through 3 years of age. They also provide educational activities for parents and children, complete developmental screenings with parents, make sure kids’ checkups are up-to-date and keeping regular appointments, and act as a referral resource for families in need of any other services (such as food pantries, continuing education services, employment, etc.). They also hold play groups for our enrolled  families twice each month, all with the goals of school readiness and early education in mind for our children and families.
